By T. Slinkard (Farmington, MO USA)
First impression: This tent is just what I was looking for. Have used it one night. Huge advantage with this tent is how easy it goes up (and down). Not sure that I'll use the DC outlets but will definitely use the opening for an external extension cord. Was surprised how much mesh is in the side walls. A plus in warmer climates. I intend to use this some in Colorado in the summer with overnight lows in the 30's and 40's at times. Should be okay with the rain fly. Mid September I'll find out for sure. The size will be perfect for my use but don't expect to put 5 adults in there. Seems to be well built. Good product!

     "Great Tent!" 2009-06-16
    By Cool Mom (Malvern, PA)
My husband and I bought this tent last fall for a camping trip. We really enjoyed it all in all. I will tell that it say's it's a three season tent. I think that is pushing it. We went to Penn State for a camping trip in mid November. The weather was calling for a cool temps and a low chance of snow flurries. Well when we arrived at our site, there was 10 inches of snow on the ground. Prior to leaving for the trip we water sealed the seams. We stayed completely dry, no problems with that. However, the temperature was the problem. During the day temps were in the mid to upper 40's, at night it was in the low 30's. Because of the very large windows on the sides of the tent, it is impossible to stay warm. It is very drafty. We even had an air mattress and two very expensive, very good sleeping bags with extra blankets. No ways were we comfortable.

But if you are using this tent for spring, summer, very early fall, I highly recommend it. The lights are a great feature. They are actually a very pretty blue color. The light is just enough for was you need to do. YOU WILL NEED THE POWER CONNECTOR! It is a separate price. The nice thing about having the power is you can charge your cell phone, use a hair dryer, etc.

The space is great too. We were able to fit a queen air bed and two twin air beds in the space.

I think you can't go wrong for the price, and it really is good quality.

We camp in South Korea, the mountainous country demands a sturdy tent. We are proud to let you in on a secret; this is the one [for 3 Season Applications], I slept thru thunderstorms, for two days? Heres the secret, for this tent do purchase a Coleman Event 14, this 9x9 Tent fits under the Shelter, and when all 4 doors are installed and a Tarf on the top of the dome, tied down----Baby, your going to sleep well and dry. and you even get a Bonus Backyard to set up a shower and toilet. God must have bless this marriage between Coleman Product and Eureka, and I am happit is all mine. I have the first Eureka 9x9 and Coleman Event 14 in country, the Koreans are very envious of our products and their inter-uses. And don't forget the a small tarf to close up the Event 14 and 15 Roof Breathing Portal in a storm, don't curse the storm---romance in your dry tent, while others swim in their own problems. For a Eurecka N!ergy 9, a Coleman Event 14 will suffice, and give more rooom then you will ever need to move around in a storm, thats, Kitchen, Toilet, Shower and Stores, under one roof protected from all elements.

     "Big" 2010-03-26
By J. Sperbeck (Gainesville, FL USA)
We got this tent for the size it really fits 5 adults with gear-not 10. The ceiling is a nice height-you can stand straight up in it. I expected the power pack to come with, but was disappointed. The tent poles are very heavy-I thought it was the power pack. Also, the poles are hard to distinguish, we guessed wrong a few times when first setting it up, they need better color coding. Once we got the poles right, the rest was clear. It takes some strenth to get the side poles in, we needed two people. I'm hoping with use they'll stretch a little and get easier.

There are no side pockets to put a flashlight or glasses for middle of the night bathroom trips. The mesh net that hangs from the ceiling is too high for the kids to reach and the connectors to the ceiling are not strong enough for it to hold much.

The room divider is a nice plus-and it does have some pockets at the bottom.

     "Roomy!" 2009-10-12
    By C.D.King (MA)
Very nice tent. Seems to be very well made, I've only used it on one trip so far. Everything was in the box. I did a test run and set it up at home first. I'm a 35-ish mom and I was able to put it up BY MYSELF! I was proud of myself lol. I of course left the power pack thing at home charging up, so I wasn't able to plug anything in during the trip. But as a tent it was great, and seemed like it would have been nice with the power pack, seemed like enough plug ins and stuff. Extra coverage from the rain fly would have been nice, like a little more overhang over the doorway for when it rains.

     "Tentastic" 2009-09-13
    By K. Kerneen (Maryland)
This is a great tent. Set up is very easy. The first set up took us less than a half hour. We just used it for the third time last weekend and we timed the set up at 15 minutes. I think it is possible for one person to set it up by themselves, however it is much easier for two people. The power supply to the tent is fantastic and can be used with any power pack that has a cigarette lighter outlet on it. The cargo net that hangs from the ceiling is very handy and keeps belongings up and out of the way. We liked ours so much, we purchased a second one for my daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. We had a great family camping weekend together and the grand kids had a blast. We have not had the opportunity to test it in rainy weather, however I have no doubt it will perform well in bad weather. We do not feel it will sleep 10 people unless you wished to be crammed like sardines in a can. I can tell you it will sleep 4 adults with two queen-sized air mattresses comfortably and still have room for your belongings. We would definitely recommend this tent to family and friends.

     "Awesome Tent" 2009-09-09
    By L. Arnold (Cincinnati OH)
I haven't camped for a long time. We are a family of three (Mom, Dad and a 10-year old son). We have never camped together as a family as I (Mom) have simply refused to go. But, a recent interest in paddling and the synergy between camping and spending a day on the water was enough to cause me to reconsider. My participation hinged on having the most acceptable accomodations that one can have in a campsite. I shopped around and chose this N!ergy 13x10 tent. The appealing features were that it comfortably sleeps 4 people with gear for a week, there is a room divider so my son (and a friend) could have their own space while my husband and I had ours and I had to be able to stand up inside the tent (I'm 5'8" tall). Setup was a breeze. My son and I can put the tent up with the rain fly in 20 minutes. When we arrived for our first outing, we put the tent up in total darkness and broke camp in a severe thunderstorm - and it still took about the same 20 minutes. The tent was amazing. The power feature is just fantastic. I could sleep comfortably with the Eureka fan and it was nice to know that we could charge a cell phone or an iPod if we chose to.

My husband made fun of the tent when it arrived. He was certain that neighboring campers would walk past pointing and giggling. After the first trip, he said the tent was well made and well designed. Anyone pointing at our tent did so because they wanted one and no one threatened to have his REI membership revoked.

Schumacher Electric makes other power options besides just the Eureka Power Pak. We used the power source below and it worked really well.

Getting this tent for $240'ish was a steal. No regrets - it was exactly what I needed to begin experiencing the great outdoors again. Acadia National Park, 2010 - here we come!

     "Nice quality tent, but...." 2008-10-01
    By Josh Ruhnke (Rochester, MN)
We've been using a Cabela's 4 man tent for a few years now with the two of us on a blow up mattress and also a Great Dane and his bed. We really liked that tent and had no problems with it until we had a baby. We wanted to find a bigger tent so we could accommodate our mattress, dog, and a pack-n-play for our baby. We found this tent pre-opened at Cabela's in Owatonna, MN for a great price. We had been researching tents for a while and we were going to actually purchase the smaller Eureka Copper Canyon tent. So we got home and set it up, set up wasn't too hard. The only part that was somewhat difficult was getting the vertical poles in, you need some strength for that. The next weekend we went to Interstate State Park in MN and got everything set up inside the tent and had more room that we knew what to do with! oh well.. The next day it rained on and off all day and with the baby we needed to get in and out a lot to put him down for naps and other things, which brings me to the thing that I did not like about this tent. The rain fly did not cover the opening to the door at all! Rain got in the tent extremely easy. Also, we did not seal the seams on the rain fly and it did drip in from the top in a few spots, but I'm sure if we sealed the seams it would have had no issues. After that rainy weekend I cleaned it up and returned the tent. The tent that we're looking to get for next season is the Big Agnes, Big House 6 with Vestibule. http://www.bigagnes.com/str_tents.php?bid=12

By Joseph Rayle (Cortland, NY USA)
I bought this because I thought it could do double duty as a vacuum and an air pump for my air bed. I have a small child, so most of our camping is car camping, and it is nice to hit the campsite and set up *quickly*. I spent 1/2 hour trying to inflate a queen-sized airbed before I gave up (fortunately, this was tried before we hit the road). The vacuum seemed to have a bit more power, but a whisk broom would probably do the same job much more cheaply.

The suction on this vaccum is okay for what I needed it for, to use in our tent while camping. However, the bottom peice is held on by three flimsy clips and they will not stay fastened. I have to hold it, otherwise the bottom becomes detached and blows whatever I am vacuuming up everywhere. I wouldn't recommend this model until this issue is fixed...

     "Great idea" 2008-09-30
    By S. Hohman (Pacific Northwest)
We purchased this battery to go with our Eureka tent which has the plug-ins. It charged fast and for us easily lasted a weekend, although we only used it at night. It has a light which tells you when it's charging, charged and a push button to turn it on and off.

It does not come with any cords. You have to supply the cord or plug-in which is a cigarette lighter type connection.

In our case, the tent came supplied with a cord which extended through a special slot to the outside of the tent so you could sit the battery right outside the door.

This is good for using any type of 12 volt accessory such as a flashlight, DVD player, cell phone charger, or maybe a game player although I am not sure how long it would last with anything that draws much power.

We have an inverter which plugs into our truck which technically could probably recharge this battery, but I did not try that and would need to check the safety guidelines to see if that is recommended or not, but it worked great for us.

"Nice idea but short-lived under actual usage" 2008-01-03
By Annette Keenberg (Los Angeles, CA USA)
    Positives

Noiseless power anywhere. With the addition of a 110 invertor, you can run most any gadget without worrying about finding an outlet.

Compact size. Too heavy by far for backpacking, car campers will love this if they've always wanted to be able to run their computers in their tents. Or tailgaters who have a TV to hook up and only a small spot left to pack in power.

    Negatives

Eureka customer service. Don't expect them to respond to questions posed via email and be prepared to wait a while for phone support.

Very small charge in the end. It takes 8 hours (when using your wall outlet) to charge and less than an hour to drain. They don't mention that part in any of the pre-purchase materials. If you are running a laptop off of it, expect just under an hour. If you are running a TV, plan on 30-45 minutes, depending on the size (13 or 15 inch). Power tools get about 15 minutes. All that is spelled out clearly on the paperwork you get only after you buy.

    Summary

If you are looking to power a small lamp or fan in your tent or be able to re-charge your cell phone, this works fine. If you want to use it for laptops, digital cameras and such, plan on getting less than an hour of power for an all night charge.
