"Terrific tent, even for beginners!" 2008-05-14
By J. Lazar (Conshohocken, PA USA)
This was our first time buying/using a tent, as well as our first time camping. It was super easy to set up, only took about thirty minutes including hammering in the pegs. It rained and poured all night long but this tent kept us dry with NO leakage at all. It was a great purchase and we are very pleased and look forward to out next camping trip.

 "Wonderful 2 -3 person tent" 2008-04-16
By B. Melton
My husband bought this tent a few years ago, and we've used it many times camping in the mountains. It's a breeze to set up, it usually takes us about 5 minutes, though we have replaced the cheap stakes with more sturdy ones. It's a lot faster and easier to set up than most of our friend's tents! I can't imagine trying to fit more than 3 people in this, it was cozy with just my husband and I and our air mattress in there. The shoe den is nice for keeping things out of the way; it's not another room, just a bulging out of the main tent. We've never had a problem with leaking, and we have gotten poured on many times. We've also been surrounded by small mud rivers and have never had a problem with leaking. I also like the side windows - the rain fly is held out of the way really well so that you can still see out of them unlike a lot of tents that you can't see out of with the rain fly in place. We're looking to replace it now since our family has expanded but it has been great. I wish it was a little taller, I'm only 5'2" and am barely able to stand up inside. Also, I wish the door was taller since you really have to crouch or crawl to get out, which made it hard at 7 months pregnant to get out on my own! The mesh shelf that attaches near the roof isn't necessary, but is nice to put a battery lantern on to see at night and helps keep glasses/breakables off the floor.

I used the tent 2 times and the zipper broke. I had trouble with the zipper the first time, but the second time it completely broke.

I threw it in the dumpster as I left the campsite. I have upgraded to a Kelty Green River.

I can not rate this tent because I feel I got cheated;I had purchased an Eddie Bauer 10 man tent last year and used it for the first time this past summer it rained and you can watch water coming in through the zippers.I have talked to the manufacture and got nowhere;also the room separaters you can see right through them;do not bother putting them up.I started reading other reviews and gettig a conclusion that eddie bauer tents suck

This tent has sheltered us from The Rockies to The Great Lakes for almost 3 years. Through wind, rain and cold, it has kept us dry. The ventilation is good with all of the windows as well during warmer spells. It's not very spacious, but it works perfectly for my husband and me, our bags and our air mattress.

 "Not self-supporting" 2010-04-13
By L. Hinrichsen (Phoenix, AZ United States)
I used this tent around 5 times. It has plenty of room and I like the vertical walls and low vents. My biggest problem with this tent is that it requires a minimum of 10 stakes and lines to keep the tent up. Much of the area we camp has hard, rocky ground (we live in the south west) so stakes are not easy to put in. And for camping with kids, the lines are a real tripping hazard. When this tent blew apart (literally) during a windstorm, I was happy to toss it in the dumpster on the way out of the campground.

"What you don't know til you get it" 2009-05-22
By kduit65 (Eastern, NE)
This tent was in the approximate size range I was looking for. From the pictures the tent looked more red, but to my surprise it was burnt orange.

I'm very concerned how well this tent will hold up to the rain. The seams are not taped or sealed in anyway I could find. I set it up and have attempted to seal the seams with some silicon fabric water-proofing. The single pole on the back side is suppose to slide into a re-enforced pocket. The area where it goes looks like two pieces of tent fabric that overlap. Not as sturdy as I would expect for a single pole supporting the backside of the tent.

On the inside of the tent, in the back two corners, there is a short pole attached to the top of each corner. This is to provide support. Over the front of the tent is a small overhang. This really needed to be a bit larger to provide some rain protection for the door opening.

The last piece of info is trying to get this tent folded up to fit back into the carry bag. I almost made it, after 3 attempts. (zipper is closed on one end) One of the reasons for so many attempts was those back short wall poles on the inside of the tent. They were turned the wrong way and didn't want to bend into thirds. On the next attempts I made sure to find those poles and get them aligned in the correct direction.

This could be a good tent if you are just going camping during ideal weather, but I wouldn't want to depend on it during rain to keep my gear dry.

"Very nice, entry level tent" 2010-06-29
By C. K. Walker (Minneapolis, MN USA)
This was our first tent purchase, and we've found it to be a very good entry level tent. I like the inside height that allows me at 5'8" to stand upright, and the room divider allows for a little privacy, but since it's just a curtain, it's also easy to remove and open up the whole tent. With the double doors and three windows, as well as the mesh top under the rain fly, it's got pretty decent ventilation. I wouldn't say this is a four season tent, as the nylon taffeta is a little thin for cool weather camping, but it handles rain well. I did seam seal and waterproof the rain fly and tent before we camped the first time, as I was told by experienced campers that's the best way to ensure dry camping, and I've no complaints. It's not too difficult for me to put up by myself in 20-30 minutes, but with help, we can get it up in 10 minutes easy. I didn't give it a 5 star rating because it has pole sleeves to thread the poles through (clips are better), the stakes it comes with are pathetic, it has little in the way of gear pouches and no power access. You can fit two queen air mattresses in the tent with a little space at the feet for gear, but it's a tight fit, and heavy rain may condense on the inside of the tent from the pressure against the walls. One queen and a twin air mattress work better, reducing sleeping capacity to three adults, but decreasing tension against the walls and increasing storage and standing space in the tent. Finally, the bag it comes in holds all the parts of the tent plus has room for my mallet and extra stakes, and has a carry handle to make transporting it more easily. I highly recommend this tent for a beginner or occasional camper.

Purchase this tent for RV /camping activity for two 12 year old to camp in. Tent had 2 rooms for separation and fairly easy to set up. Everything worked well, we used 2 adults to intially set up. The instructions were great and all parts fit together. No snags on zippers or other componeents. Two 12 years olds used and it survived the 3 day use trip with no problem whatsoever. Look forward to using again. Great value!! Recommend to all!!

"Very good tent for camping" 2010-05-21
By Floyd Smith (Landover Hills, Maryland United States)
I brought this tent for my Boy Scout group and it worked out pretty well. It's a nice size tent and hold about two teenagers Scouts or three cub Scouts. The only problem I had is that the back part of the tent can get wet if you're not careful about keeping the flap zipped up.

We had a little rain come down and the tent got a little wet from the rain because the Scouts had the back flap down to cool of the tent.

Other then that it's a good tent to have.

"Basic tent, gets the job done" 2010-05-19
By Laura G. (Sacramento, CA USA)
I have only used this tent once for a weekend trip on the Northern CA coast. Weather was in the 40-50's with fog and the ground was damp. Tent held up well and was especially easy to set-up and take down. We had very light rain/dense fog and stayed dry. Easily fit a double air mattress and backpacks. The tent floor measures 7 feet, but if you sleep on an air mattress (which raises you a few inches off the tent floor) you may have problems if you're over 5'8" because the sides are sloped. I'm 5'7" and was on an air mattress and I barely fit without having either my head or feet pushing against the tent sides. Overall: good basic car camping tent, will trust it for fair/moderate weather, came with a handy carry case, and the price was great.

 "It works" 2007-03-14
By Mario R. Faria (Tallahassee, FL)
What can I say, I took it camping on a cold night and it worked, no condensation (I had the vestibule cracked). I bought seam sealler and sealed it, a must do in all tents. I also sprayed layer of water repealent spray can, found in local sports shop. I haven't used the tent in rainy conditions, but I know since I took my time and prept it the Wenzel tent will do nicely in rainy conditions. (Just don't be lazy and prept your tents)

It was easy to wrap and carry on my camping bag.

Easy to set up.

Easy to break down and wrap up.

It comes with pegs.

Nice cool organizer thing in tent.

It rocks.

My recommendation, well for the price, Buy it!!!

Later on when I save much more, about $150 I'll buy a nicer tent, but I can't really afford that now.

 "Not very reliable" 2007-02-07
By Joshua D. Haney (Hagerstown, IN USA)
This tent was given to me as gift from my wife. I've taken it on two trips, one a three night backpacking trip and the other an overnight car camping trip in cold weather. On the first trip the condensation was terrible! Every morning I woke up to find my sleeping bag wet. Luckily I have a very good sleeping bag! On the second trip one of the support poles shattered while I was trying to set up the tent! Save your money and spend a bit more to get a better tent!

It's a fabulous sunny-weather tent, realtively cozy for two persons of average size and weight....but when it rains it POURS. It LEAKS through every cross-hatched weave of thread it's made of. You'll scream like I screamed, curse like the sailor you will be whilst drifting about, angrily wondering why you decided to let your desire to save a little dough has literally drowned you in sorrow.....and it wasn't even a heavy rain. Alas.

 "Excellent Tent!" 2009-12-09
By Monty (Mobile, AL)
This tent was an excellent buy! 7x7 from my experience means a 1-2 people tent at most. You can sleep 3 in there but they either have to be really small 3 or ready to be sleeping right next to each other with no space what so ever. I used a tarp underneath the tent, it helped greatly keeping it dry. Also the rain fly worked great. For the 3 days i was camping in heavy mist and dew, the walls of the tent were soaked. But the rain fly really helped. Anything touching the inside walls of the tent will get wet. I would highly recommend having your blanket pillows or anything else that can get wet in protective bags or you can leave them in the car until needed as we did. Over all great product. Next purchase would be a bigger tent! (For a 1 person tent ...its awesome! )

"Looking for a new tent" 2009-12-23
By Red Haze (NV)
Bottom line: There's a reason this tent is so cheap. Don't buy it pretending it is something it is not. This is now my child's play thing.

The reason I'm rating this so low is because I finally had a chance to take this tent out under different contitions. We took it hiking (don't do this-- it weights almost 7 lbs.!)to the highest point in Utah. We had all-day blowing rain. When we came back, we had puddles in our tent. Puddles! The three of us were all completely shocked, we looked for a long time for the culprit, but water was just oozing in from everywhere. The walls were absorbing it, dropplets were coming down from the seams (which are NOT taped), the window ties and the fly ties would drip water off them into the tent. The fly simply is not sufficient to keep out water. We finally used an emergency blanket for the fly.

Now that I've made my complaints, I'll tell you why I didn't rate it with one star. I found this tent for a steal at a sports store, I think it was $20. I remember distincly thinking, "For only $20, it doesn't really matter how good it is." Shame on me. I have used it lightly over the course of four years, so that says something. This tent was most often used in tail-gate camping in the extreme heat and sand of Southern Nevada. It holds up OK in wind and keeps out sand. I think 7'x 7' are decent dimensions for 3 people, but as a 6-foot man, my head and feet do bump into the walls since the walls are slanted inward.

Suisse Sport Fit 3 Person Tent. I Just used this tent for a five day camping trip in the Tennessee mountains. It went up easy and stayed dry during a heavy down pour. Saying it is a 3 person tent is a bit of a stretch. I can see 2 people using it fairly comfortably but 3 would be very tight. Also, due to the slant of the sides, if you are over 6 feet tall your head and feet may hit the walls. For 1 or 2 people under 6 feet tall this is a good product for the money.
