"The previous version of this tent was better." 2010-01-27
By Kyle B. Hoelscher
I purchased this tent because i owned a tent that looked exactly like this from Swissgear. That tent held up amazing and it was destroyed thru no fault of the tent. The previous version was light, easy to set up, 100% waterproof, comfy for 2, sturdy construction.

This is some bastardized version of that tent. It looks exactly like it in all the pictures. Lets go thru a quick list of why this tent is not as good as the previous version:

1. This tent has weak fiberglass poles. Expect those to break after a few uses. The previous version had aluminum poles, they were nearly unbreakable, even in high winds.

2. This tent has a roof made from mesh. Do not expect to be rainproof in this tent. The previous tent had a solid roof and could withstand all the rain i ever put it thru.

3. This tent has a bulky and cumbersome rain fly. This rain fly is the same size as the mesh roof, so do not expect it to save you from all the rain. Additionally, when high winds strike, that will be whipping in the wind, making lots of noise.

4. The loops for the tent spikes are much thinner material. I expect at least one seam to rip after a couple of uses.

5. This tent is heavier than the previous version. I blame the fiberglass tent poles and bulky rain fly.

 "Not good quality" 2010-01-25
By AnnaRoseH (West Chester, OH USA)
We purchased these for our Boy Scout sons (no strangers to tent set up and camping in cold weather) and were very disappointed with this product. Neither tent made it through the first campout with cords breaking, poles bending, and the boys getting thoroughly soaked due to rainfall. Not too much fun in 20 degree weather. Even the Scout Masters were surprised at how easily these tents fell apart. This may be good for backyard campouts but that is about it. We are returning both tents and purchasing new ones for next month's campout.

 "For a tent less than $50" 2010-01-23
By Doug C. (Arizona)
For a backpacking tent that costs less than $50, this is exactly what I expected. It is easy to set up and take down, has ample room for one person plus gear, and is fairly light weight. I have not tried the tent with two people yet, but I could see it being a tight fit for two people plus gear. The dual entrances into the vestibule are handy, as well as the small gear loft provided. The tent is NOT water proof, as a previous review stated. The manufacture claims it to be water resistant. If you are planning a trip where severe rain might be expected, I would look into a waterproof fabric treatment. So far the tent is exactly as I expect, and will work until I can afford to purchase a high end backpacking tent.

 "Not rain proof" 2009-07-14
By Customer (Washington, DC United States)
pros:

Light and compact tent <$50 but it is not for 2 people, may be 2 kids.

Nice for one person with some gear.

Easy to set up.

cons: From fine print from the tent: only water repellent, not rain proof. The tent got soaked wet in the rain even with footprint. Be prepared for unexpected weather.

Also the materials are so thin, especially for floor. Will need decent air mat.
