This camping ceiling fan worked so well. It is a must for the tent when it is hot, and you all know how tents get in the heat!!! This was amazing!!! I have camped for years and I have to admit that I was embarrassed at first for anyone to see that I had it, but I highly reccommend it.

Yes, the fan can be a little loud... but I LIKE that feature. When you're bike riding across the state of Iowa with 10,000 of your closest friends the fan can drown out all the little noises of your neighbors in their tents. But most importantly, it will keep you cool in the late July Iowa weather.



One of the best features of this fan over others like it, is that the battery pack plugs into the fan. When you break camp for the night you just unplug the battery pack and store it in your bags. With other fans the batteries remain in the fan and it is too easy for the switch to get bumped during travel leaving you with dead batteries at your next campsite.

This fan blows pretty hard, which is good, but it is very noisy. For people who are used to sleeping in a quiet environment, this could be too loud, especially on the high setting.

I've had 2 of these chairs for a total of 2 summers now. I've taken them on 6 camping trips, mostly just long weekends. I loved the chairs - comfortable, convenient. I loved the mesh seats, the cup holders in each arm, the nice pack on the arm to hold books, etc. HOWEVER, when I went to use my chair this past weekend, it collapsed. Turned out that both the plastic bases for the front legs had cracked and fallen apart. I put it away and grabbed my other Cool Creek Chair, only to find that the rear base for the legs was cracked and about to fall apart. This is unacceptable, for such expensive chairs! I've been using folding camping chairs for years, and have never had this happen, let alone on such new chairs. I plan to call Columbia and see how their Customer Service handles this issue. I may change my review based on how they handle my complaint for these now-unusable chairs.

UPDATE: So after contacting the company, they first wanted me to ship the chairs back to them at my expense to be examined. I declined to do this due to the fact that the shipping would cost as much as one of the chairs, so they agreed to allow me to email photos of the damaged chairs. Several days later, I heard back from them and they have agreed to send me new chairs. So, HOORAY FOR THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I appreciate the replacements, and I would change my rating, but Amazon's website isn't letting me do so. I do hope the company improves (or has already improved) on the defective materials they used in the bases of my two broken chairs.

Ordered this chair for my son who is a big guy. 230+lbs and this chair holds him comfortably. He loves it for not only camping but taking to soccer games as it is light and easy to carry. The material is more of a heavy canvas (not nylon). Easy to set up and fold up. Would recommend for anyone needing a sturdy yet light weight chair.

 "Two Terrible Lights Later" 2009-12-16

1st Ceiling fan we received the light did not work on it so we had to send back for a replacement which was an easy process actually.



2nd Ceiling fan one of the lights worked but it was dim the whole time we even changed out for new batteries. So we returned for a refund.



Also when we did have it up it was real heavy and sagging the tent.

This fan worked as advertised, and the light was convenient. I found tent camping a great deal more comfortable with a breeze.



On the other hand, this thing is big and heavy. For "dump camping" it would be great. For backpacking, it is too big and too heavy. For motorcycle camping (which I do) it is just too big.



Now, all that said, when I go camping again, its going with me- its just too comfortable to pass up. In the future, I'll look for a smaller, lighter version of the same thing.

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT! It is not worth it at all. Because of the weight of the fan after you add the batteries in - it becomes almost impossible for the fan to stay up on the tent. And if by some slim chance it does manage to stay put (which I was able to get it to stick for about a minute or so and not much longer than that) - I would strongly suggest not to sleep under the fan as the chances of it falling on your head is great. Furthermore you would need about a foot high tent in order to feel any wind from this. You will be very disappointed if you get this product. You are better off buying the Coleman Free Standing Tent Fan which works so much better and for a much cheaper price.

I had to return my first fan because it made a horrible sound unless I laid it on it's side. But the replacement I received seems fine. I think the problem is you cannot hold it by the biggest part, which comes naturally. You have to hold this fan by the small end otherwise you risk damaging it. But I love the features. I have not had the chance to be in hot weather yet with it, but I think I will need 2 to do the job for our 10X15 tent.

It blows air, not much but it does. The light was not very useful. Mine arrived with a broken high-low switch, it only worked on high. I packed in my duffle on RAGBRAI and I found it with the light on one day and broken the next. I snapped the broken parts together, it worked but with a loud clicking sound. At the end of the week I chucked it in the dumpster.
