If you ever plan to deal with the customer service, do not buy Marmot Tents. I sent them mine about 6 months ago (my tent has a lifetime warranty). After 5 years and about 5 2-3 day hikes per year the seam tapes started to go off. After 2 months I called them to find out that they received the tent and would replace it. I wasn't happy, since they no longer produced a single person tent for a 6ft tall person, but said OK. 2 months later I called and was told that my tent had mildew and would not be repaired or replaced. They offered me to buy a net tent at a discount. The cheapest I could find would have cost me over a $100. I said NO, I want my old tent back. They said they would ship it. 2 months later - no tent. I called them and the guy named Fry told me they still have my old tent in their office.



By the way, I dried my tent after every backpack and didn't see any mildew when I sent it.

As a professional, I have to say this tent is awesome, and despite what the other review said, I believe it works well in cold weather as well as hot. The vents at the top (which are there so you don't suffocate in the snow) can easily be velcroed shut. This, combined with the fly keep out the wind nicely. True, the window in the fly is always open for anyone to look in, but it's pretty small. Don't camp with weirdos!

I love the fact that the fly comes all the way to the ground, which is great in the rain, and allows me to keep my gear dry without it being inside the tent. It's easy and quick to put up...a little tough in the wind, but doable. because of it's low profile, shape of the fly, and tie-down anchors, it performs excellently in strong winds.

This is a great camp for warm weather camping; as soon as it drops below 50 degrees, though, you'll freeze. The tent is extremely well ventilated and cold drafts get in unobstructed in the top and also at the bottom ground-level panels (which means you'll have cold wind blowing right on your sleeping bag!). This is with the tarp on and everything. Don't buy this if you need a tent for cold weather.



Another complaint is that the "sun roof" window can't be closed! There is always a plastic see-thru window into your tent for anybody to look into! I had to rig a curtain with cloth and velcro patches. Very inconvenient.



Otherwise, it's lightweight, brightly colored, and perfect for hot weather. Goes up in a flash.

I just received my new shelter and haven't set it up on ice yet. We had high wind warnings here with gust up to 45 MPH, so I set my new shelter up in an open lot. I was very pleased with how well it handled in the wind and with how well it handled the wind. It seems to be well constructed and roomy enought for someone of my size (6'4" @ 225lbs.) I can't wait to get it out on the ice.

The size of the tent is great and the weight is almost not noticeable. The carry case is good and the tent fits in nicely. No forcing. The tent floor is water proof. The tent poles work, light weight and have spring loaded locking clamps to help aid in keeping the poles together. The top of the tent appears to be thin nylon, not sure how water proof it would be. It did drizzle rain for about an hour when I first used the tent and the inside was dry. If it rained for long periods of time or heavy rains may need a poncho on top (my opion). The inside for two people just fits and there is no room for any gear but boots will fit inside down by the doors. Def a good tent for an overnite, but no more than a few days.

I guess you really do get what you pay for.I bought this tent last year for around $45 to go camping for a week in the woods.The tent came with very cheap,flimsy shepherd crook stakes that aren't very effective,and the aluminum poles had a small plastic knob on the end to slip into a grommet on the tent.These knobs broke as soon as it was out of the box.I wound up just using two sticks,whittled down to fit the grommets.This would have been sufficient with better stakes.Also the tent was very cramped with just me and my pack.I suggest only using this as a solo tent.With decent tent stakes and better poles,it would be an affordable one man tent.
