This tent/cabana does not stand up on its own.It is only large enough for an infant or small toddler.As for folding it to get it back into its orignal package,it is a nightmare.Please do yourself a favor and look into purchasing an umbrella instead,and save yourself alot of headaches.The tent is stained as stated in the description with motor oil which does not come out either.

This beach tent was super! It was exactly what we needed for our 13 month old to play in and sleep in while we were on the beach. It was incredibly easy to set up and take down (as long as you follow the picture diagram that came along with it),and it was able to withstand pretty strong winds. It was great to have the various options of opening up the front flaps or the back flaps, as well as the side vented windows. The only negative thing about it was that the strap broke on the carrying bag which made it difficult to hang on your shoulder.

We needed two sun shelters for a trip to the west coast. I needed them to be slim and light and to fit in a large suitcase. This product had to be easy to close after opening. When I used the pop-up tent I was amazed at how easy it was to close and store back in the slim pouch. It's easy to wash off, too since it's a lightweight fabric similar to sailcloth. The shade overhead is high enough for a grown six foot man to sit under with a low seat, as well. Personally, I love to stretch out and tan my legs a bit while protecting my head and face, so this item was perfect to use. I love that it comes with four pegs to sink into the sand so it doesn't blow away. I can also use my plastic spring clips to drape a light sun blocking scarf over one end to block wind or blowing sand. They come in blue or yellow colors as well which was nice. I hope these pop-up tents last a while, but if they don't because I use them a lot, I will certainly buy another one or two. Compared to two other shade chairs and pocket shelters that we own, these are a welcome addition convenient for trips to the coast or to the pool.

This thing is great for a baby shade, which is what we purchased it for. (Taking our 4 1/2 mo. son to the beach) However, unless you are a family of hobbits, do not expect to put the fam, or anything more than 1 "regular" person, under it. It pops right open, but is slightly more difficult to put away-- still do-able, but the directions are rather useless, though there is a video clip that is slightly better. The stakes are also useless, and who wants to fill the pockets with sand, then put the thing back in your car (w/ all that sand)? Better to keep some extra water bottles (filled) and place them in the pockets (rocks would work too, but I fear they would rip the pockets after a while?). Get a good gust of wind, and whoosh! watch out! but generally good for the "average" beach day. However, you can sit and smile while others on the beach struggle to put poles in their beach tents and spend at least 15 min assembling and taking down their structures, while yours goes up in under 1 min. Durability? Hmmm... seems a little on the flimsy side, but for the price, I didn't really expect it to last us more than one summer (we go to the beach weekly or bi-weekely May-Oct).

If you are going to sit in the sand or you want it for a baby, then it might be really good for you. It does pop-up in a nanosecond and it is light as a feather. I had it out in heavy wind and it leaned like it was going to collapse, but it didn't. And everyone on the beach loved it!



BUT, it just is not very big. If you are in a beach chair and you are tall, you will not like it---it is a tent so it pyramids at the top and id you sit in a beach chair you'll be near or at the top and you have plastic on either side of your head and a roof. If you sit in the sand, it's big enough, but only for one. And no matter what, your feet will stick out, so if it's windy, they will get cold.



Also, I still don't know how to fold it up, but if you go to the website there is a simple looking utube of it, but I have not been able to do the last part. Folding in half is easy enough, but swirling it has eluded me. I tried to get someone to help me and he could not do it either. The funny thing is that I saw someone with it on the beach and he couldn't get it to fold either, so you end up dragging this big thing which you can only fold in half and that ends up being maybe 4 feet by 2 feet (I'm guessing but it's too big to do easily). I've only used mine once---between filling it with sand and trying to get it to the beach, since it won't fold to a reasonable size, it's just too much trouble.



If you have a baby, I would think it would be worth the trouble, and A LOT nicer than the tents that have the wires which I see on the beach, because it really does pop up---no assembly at all.

We used this at the beach and when we put sand in the pockets, it withstood some serious wind! Just make sure to position the shelter with the paneled side going into the wind and it will be very stable. The winds were from Tropical Storm Fay and umbrellas were tumbling down the sand while I was nice and comfy under my shade in my beach chair.

I bought this with great trepidation. I was afraid this would be a nightmare to close up - as all "pop up" items seem to be, and I was right. The pictures on the "instruction sheet" were of no help and the video link they mention doesn't exist on youtube!!! I have no clue how to fold this thing up back in to the nice, little circular bag from whence it came. Is there another video somewhere? When open, it seems to be ok -- though you will need to purchase tent stakes. The windy beach would make this tent an $80 kite in no time. If the video were accessible to show how to close this sucker, then I might give this 4-stars.

I bought the silver-ish tent and used it July '09 for protection from the sun on the beach -- it worked great, but note that it's not as high an open entrance as the advertised photo seems to show...I'm 5'5" and I had to duck down low to get inside; also, low opening impedes some view but likely provides more sun protection. My low-to-the-ground lounge chair worked great inside, but there's really only enough room for max. 2 adults comfortably. One person, perfect. Watch out for windy days -- 4 provided ground stakes and attached yellow sand pockets on bottom of both sides really come in handy. The fact you can zip the front door closed is a plus if you want to change your clothes or for camping. All in all a great tent, easy to set up and take down -- you'll need to watch the video link which, for some reason, isn't included in the Amazon ad but, rather, is sent along with the product (VIDEO LINK SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE AMAZON AD).
