"Easy set-up and a sturdy tent for the price." 2010-03-24
By E. Hutton
This tent was purchased as a gift for two grandsons (ages 5 and 7). The boys love it and their parents are pleased with the sturdiness. They said that it was very easy to set up and so far, it has done fine in the foggy, wet weather on the northern California coast. They haven't tried it out during a windy storm yet, so can't vouch for how it would stand up to rougher conditions. It is standing up to the boys, though!

 "Tent Review" 2010-02-07
By Ric B. Nixon (Gulfport, Florida USA)
Tent DOES NOT meet the hieght specifications as labled of 6 feet. This was the main reason I bought this tent was due to the height, it is more like 5'5" + or -. Very disapointed in that aspect but other than that a good tent and worth the money.

 "Great tent" 2010-05-11
By Kimmerlyn (Grand Rapids, MI)
We purchased this as a spare for when we have friends/guests along when we camp. We really like it as it's easy to assemble and doesn't leak. Our first camp out with it we were at a music festival along the lakeshore and had high winds with heavy rains. Other tents were collapsing or blowing away around us, but this tent stayed put. We had replaced the stakes with iron sand spikes as we always do when we camp. We don't trust the tiny, thin aluminum(?) stakes that come with most tents. Otherwise a good tent.

disappointed in tent. takes 2 people to put it up. YOU HAVE TO THREAD IT through 5 feet of nylon on 4 sides. After we got it up the main ziiper would not zip, It cost us $20 to return it! Very bad design.

 "Texsport SUV tent" 2009-11-04
By Rebecca Richards (Cape Coral, Fl)
Bought this tent to use with a 4 door Jeep Wrangler. It was a little too big for the Jeep but worked well anyway. Make sure that you seal the tent and you should not have any problems with leaks. This tent is extremely easy to set up, it took me only 5 minutes to erect the entire tent on my lanai. The only problem we had with this tent was that when we took it down a piece of the main pole broke off and we did not realize this until we were going to set up the tent at the campground. Despite this minor setback, we were still able to set up the tent even with a broken pole and it stayed up through a major wind storm - impressive! Overall, good tent for the price.

 "Texsport Dome Tent" 2009-09-12
By M. Nichols
This is a great idea for a tent! We loved the extra space it gave us. We used it to camp up and down the east coast this summer. If fit perfectly over the back of a Honda Element and could definitely be used for a bigger vehicle. The porch poles were a little flimsy so we didn't use them. It does take two people to set up and take down--but it was an easy job. The only problem we had was water leaked in from the bottom seams in the rain. It was not much (a quart or so) but did get some of our gear wet. Despite that problem we would still buy this tent again.

The tent was exactly what I expected. Even though it was 110 degrees when it arrived, I just had to set it up to see how it worked on my Honda CR-V. Looks like a great fit! We are camping this weekend, I can't wait to try it out for real!

 "Leaks Badly" 2009-07-31

We just used this tent for the first time, and it leaked so badly that everything in the tent was wet, including us. I have camped for many years, and I have never spent a more uncomfortable night in a tent.

"Best Tent Buy on the Market!" 2010-01-03
By Bob God (Summerland Key, USA)
Just for a little background info, I've been an avid camper for more than fifty years, was a professional outfitter for nearly two decades, managed a camping store, worked a a guide in the Florida Keys and Everglades for a a total of more than twenty-five years and one of my college degrees is in parks and recreation management.

With all of that in mind, this is the single best deal in a three season family camping tent on the market; no exceptions.

It is not intended as a base camp for arctic explorers. For summer trips, however, and even for mild springtime and fall trips, this tent is easy to pack and even easier to set up.

The windows on all three sides and in the door, together with the skylight style roof vent keep you cool and the interior height of six feet allows you to stand up straight and stretch your legs. The rain fly is simple and easy to attach and doesn't block the view from any of the windows or door.

These features combine to make this tent equal to or better than many tents that sell for up to and over three hundred dollars.

While I always encourage people to do some comparison shopping before investing in camping gear, I'm sure that after having done so most people will come back to the TexSport 9' square dome unless they're simply put off by the camouflage motif.

"Terrific Comfort in Terrible Weather" 2009-08-11
By Kathy A. Hughes (Des Moines)
I lived in this tent for the better part of three unseasonably cold and wet summer weeks in Maine. I stayed dry (for the most part) in spite of heavy rains lasting up to eight hours and one severe thunderstorm that lit up the tent's walls like a strobe light. I'll take the blame for any problems: the door was on the (slightly) uphill side, so some water dripped in through the bottom of the door zipper, but only after hours of continuous rain. During the thunderstorm, maybe a dozen drops blew in, not enough to wet the bottom of a shot glass. It was fine in the wind, but I would say that this is a three season tent.

The bug netting is fine, and for the price of one night in a motel, the tent owes me nothing. I outfitted it with boxsprings and a matress from a twin bed and a sturdy table/bench, leaving me plenty of room to stand and change clothes.

I love this tent!

"Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent" 2009-05-15
By D. Ramsell (Plesanton, CA)
This is the second tent of this kind that I have owned. The first one lasted me for a good 6 to 8 years and I camp about 4 to 5 times a year.

Overall this is a very nice tent. It's quite roomy. You can sleep 4 on the ground but if you use a cot then only 2. You can get 3 in on a cot but it's very tight quarters. The height is tall enough for me to stand-up (I'm 5'10). So it is nice when you have to change clothes.

There is a small hook that hangs down in the center. It's nice for hanging a small battery lamp for a night light.

For day use, you can roll-up the front entry flap and secure it with a elastic loop that is sown into the tent. In the back you can unzip the secondary flap to create a window.

Set-up is not difficult. One person can do it but easier with two. With practice, it can be set up in about 10~15 min.

The material from the last tent held up quite well. What did the last tent in was that the zipper gave out and the mosquito screen got torn up. (Keep Velcro hooks away from it) As for the rest of the tent, it never tore.

Also, the bag that you store the tent in was a little tight. You basically had to pack the tent the way it came from the factory to get it to fit. The best way to do it is to fold the tent to the length of the pole bag. Put the pole bag on one end of the folded tent, then roll up the tent like an old style sleeping bag. When you're done the tent will be wrapped around the pole bag tightly. Now it will fit in the bag. You can put the pole bag in the tent case first then try to stuff the tent in but its harder to do.

I would have given this tent a 5 star rating if the zipper and mosquito would have held up longer. The rest of the tent would have lasted many more years if it wasn't for that. Otherwise it's a great tent.
