 "Excellent Tent" 2010-01-09
By K. Melody
I bought this tent to replace one that had been heavily damaged in a wind storm. My husband and I camp often with our two dogs. When I first read the directions I was a bit worried; however, once we had all the parts out it was super easy to set up. We didn't even need the directions for the second setup. The tent is huge and you can stand up throughout it. We put it to the test the first night as we had 30 mph wind gusts. We didn't know the wind was coming so we had to get up in the middle of the night and add more stakes. The guy ties don't necessarily help stabilize the tent from wind as much as they stretch the tent out to prevent rain from collecting and dripping in. The zipper on the door did stick a couple times but was easily fixed with a careful tug which did not damage the fabric or zipper. The only problem we had was when packing it away the second time, we were trying to cram it in the carrying bag and the zipper popped. No big deal though, since I had a duffle bag that the contents fit in and now we don't have to worry about folding it up so tight. I plan to have this tent for many years and think it is a great investment.

 "Excellent for family camping" 2009-10-05
By A. Keane (MA)
We bought this tent based on reviews and were not disappointed. We used it for our family of 4, our dog, and a lot of extra gear that we didn't even need. There is a lot of extra room in this tent, and I'd say it can sleep 6 very comfortably, and 8 if you don't have any gear in the tent with you. There is the potential for 2 "rooms" in the tent via a partition that clips in place in the middle of the tent, with a zipper down the center. We didn't use the partition, as our children are young and wouldn't stay on their side anyway. There is a neat little zipper in the rear of the tent for an electrical cord access, which we did use from our campsite.

There was plenty of headroom, and I could easily stand up in the tent and walk from end to end without ducking, and I'm 5' 10". With all the windows open, there is a LOT of airflow, and ventilation was not a problem during the day when it was hot. The only thing we experienced that we didn't expect was that night the temp dropped into the 30's, and with only 4 people in the tent and so many cubic feet of airspace, it got pretty chilly in there, even with all the windows up. (Keep in mind that we didn't pack for cold weather.)

Setup was a snap, and directions are printed on a sheet sewn into the inside of the bag so you won't lose it. I set up the tent to inspect it after I received it, and it took about 30 minutes with me really taking my time. Second attempt on the campsite, the directions were unnecessary as the setup was simple, and it took only 15 minutes with help only for draping the rainfly over the large tent.

In short, I would recommend this family tent without reservation, and look forward to having many camping trips with family and friends in it.

 "Excellent For The Dollars" 2010-01-25
By Robert Vanorden
Went round and round for a large tent for car camping, you know, when the whole tribe goes.

Got out this weekend for the first time with the WeatherMaster 10.

1) Setup was easy with one person, pretty windy so the fly was a little bit of a challenge, but doable alone.

2) Well made, well designed product. We had three full size men in there, all with oversized cots and all our gear. Pleanty of room.

3) Ventilates really well.

4. FULL DAY of steady rain on Saturday, found only one leak in a corner, maybe 3 tablespoons of water; didn't have time to get the seams sealed before heading out. Will cover that when I set it up to clean. Did very well though, it was a LOT of rain.

Very happy with the purchase.

"Just not the right tent" 2009-11-16
By Judy C. Ridder (Kansas)
While we love most Coleman products we were not happy with the purchase of this particular tent. We were shopping for a tent of a bigger size and found the angled sides took up about 2-3 feet of usable space per side which cut down on the actual total usable space. Also the way the rain fly sits it forms a valley on each side between the center pole and the flies outside poles, therefore, creating a place for water to pool, thus causing leaking. The tent also leaked on us in the morning just from a light frost that had begun to melt. Loved the hinged door feature and the actual size but were unhappy overall. We exchanged for the Eureka Copper Canyon 1512 and love it!

"Big Tent perfect for family camping" 2009-09-16
By R. T. Endrick (Kearneysville, WV USA)
After owning a previous tent for over ten years, it was time for a new one. I have skimped on price before but ultimately wound back up with the Coleman line. They just sell great reliable product. I did a lot of research and decided to go with the Coleman WeatherMaster 10 tent. I have two young daughters and my wife, this tent is the perfect size for a long weekend.

I set it up by myself in about 20-25 minutes. I recommend getting some help and the time will be cut in half. It was very easy to set up, although the directions sewn inside the bag are a little rough to read. I suggest printing out a copy from Coleman's website and follow them. Definitely set the tent up before you head out to familiarize yourself with it. You will see it is very easy.

It is a very large and roomy tent. It only has two spacious rooms, but do you really need more than that?? I have seen other reviews where people had mentioned it looked cheaply constructed. I disagree! The seams are very strong as well as the floor. The tent itself feels like a parachute type material. It feels very resilient to me. . . The one complaint I have which in all reality I guess you can't get away from, is that getting it back into the bag was a chore; I don't think I have ever has a tent go back into its case very easily. I don't understand why they don't make "stuff" tents yet in this day and age. It would be nice to just stuff that sucker right into a bag instead of rolling it up and dealing with the frustration. Anyway, just eye up the bag first and make tight rolls and it will go back in OK. I highly recommend this tent and know you will enjoy it as well.

"Just set it up in the back yard" 2009-08-13
By G. N. Zito (Woodbrige, CT)
Did allot of homework prior to buying this tent. The tent will be used for family car camping. I have not set up a tent in years so I just set it up in the backyard for a test run. It took about 20 minutes with my 4 and 6 year old kids lending a hand. I found the set up process very intuitive, if I got jammed up I read the instructions that are sewn into the tent bag for the helpful hint. Once set up the tent is very roomy and will have no problem to fit the four of us I also like the fact that I can stand inside. The construction appears to be OK, better than other tents I have had in the past. I chose this tent for 3 main reasons:

1 The rain tarp overhanging the windows looks like it will keep you dryer than other tents in this class

2 The front door is cool

3 The price was right. We are casual campers we do not need a [...] tent for once or twice a year outings.

The true test will be next weekend when we go camping!

 "Didn't Like it" 2009-07-01
By TheRavan
The setup instruction are no very detailed but most tent instruction are. I setup the tent in the yard which took about an hour. After it was setup I was disappointed with the tent. The hinged door is nice but the rubber end cap slid off the fiber glass rods that recreate the door frame and are stuck up inside the door hinges.

The tent looks like it will stay together in high winds. The poles that support the two end windows stick into the main support poles and look like they would pop out in high winds.

The tent just felt and looked cheaply made, so I returned it the next day and ordered the Eureke Copper Canyon 1312 which had lots of good reviews.

"Slightly leaky but great overall." 2009-09-30
By Huck (Baton Rouge, LA)
GET A FEW CANS OF CAMP DRY. This tent leaked fairly bad the first time we used it at Woolly Hollow state park in Arkansas. I think the rain fly diverts water directly onto the back side windows and on the seam where the door hinges and ours leaked pretty bad at the point where the mesh meets the bottom part of the window. Those nights it rained a good bit and we "fixed" the leak by detaching the rain fly on the back poles and tying it to the guy lines then to a tree, so the water would run off the very back of the tent more, instead of dripping right at key seams, this seemed to fix the problem. We have since put 3 coatings of camp dry and used a couple of tubes of coleman seam sealer and this should be a great tent from now own. (guaranteed not to leak......after 3 coatings of camp dry) should be there slogan.

On a positive note, I haven't had a tent from Coleman that hasn't leaked yet, but learn from me, always seal them with camp dry or similar product and seam sealer BEFORE you need to, and you will have a great experience and have a tent that will last for years to come.

 "Highly recommended" 2009-08-16
By S. Nowell
An excellent tent for the price.

Easy for one person to put up, but because of the height of the tent, the rain fly is a bit difficult to get in place. Also, the eight rain fly tie down lines tend to get tangled up. I have found that unless there are extremely high wind conditions, you really don't need them, so I just coiled them up and secured them with wire ties.

It has withstood one very heavy rainfall with no noticeable leakage. More than I can say for any other tent I have used.

Ventilation is great. Plenty of screened panels that can be opened. The "hinged" door is nice too. The screened room is a real plus, but it would have been even more so had they extended the tent floor to cover it too.

It is difficult to get it rolled up enough to get it back in the carrying case, but that is true of every tent I have ever owned.

Very happy with it thus far.

 "LOVED IT!!!!!" 2009-10-14
By Customer 1
Great tent. Ample room. Lots of windows/screens to let the airflow thru. Easy to put up. Loved the screend section on the side. Loved the "door" feature - totally beats zipping and unzipping all day and night long. You won't be disappointed with this purchase...I surely wasn't. Recommend to all. It would sleep very comfortably up to 4 people - 6 people is definitely pushing it unless they are kids. My husband and I bought this and we used one section for storage of all our clothes, etc. while we slept in the other section - in the screend section we were able to put all the reamining items to be protected in the event of rain. Great product!

 "Former Faithful Customer" 2009-10-09
By William S. Reynolds (Culleoka, TN)
The first time I set this tent up one of the corner stake loops pulled away from the tent. Coleman acknowledged the defect and are willing to replace the tent but I have to pay for shipping. Had the tent cost $30 more to begin with I would not have purchased it. I feel like I am paying a surcharge for Coleman's poor quality control. This tent was made in China; the stake loops are should be sewn through the seams for a couple of inches for strength but they are not. Hardly any stress at all was necessary to pull the corner away. I grew up with Coleman products and have 3 of their coolers, a lantern, stove, chairs and other accessories and remember them as providing sturdy, reliable products but they seem to have gone the way of other big companies in looking for the highest return on their dollar at the expense of durability and customer loyalty. Well, I will pay for shipping rather than take a complete loss but Coleman has had their last dollar from me.

 "Extremely pleased" 2009-09-17
By K. Bogardus (Hartford, CT)
I've only had this tent about a month, and we used it for our labor day weekend camping trip. we didn't practice putting it up before hand, which i was regretting as we didn't get to our site until dusk and was nervouse about setting up a brand new tent that was much more tent than either of us had used before. to our suprise, it went up very quickly and easily. the instructions were very easy to follow and all the parts were easily identifiable and intuitive.

once it was up, we fell in love just during the settling in phase; i thought the hinged door would be a cool addition, but after 3 days, i don't think i would ever go without it again. it was so easy to quickly slip in and out of the tent without zipping (except for at night, of course). we had recently invested in sleeping cots too and everything fit perfectly (note 2 people with 2 cots and lots of "stuff" was VERY comfortable; to be a 6 person tent is more than i'd want to live with, as it would seem to be only sleeping area). also, we were both thrilled with the hight of the tent and no longer needed to duck around.

the screened in area was nice to have, we stored some things in there to keep out of the way, and it would be great for rainy/buggy times (fortunately we lucked out and didn't have either).

All in all, i am extremely pleased with my purchase of this tent. definately worth the wait as it was unavailable when we first started researching it.

"Dry as a bone tent camping!" 2009-07-25
By A. Blair (Northern Virginia)
I've camped for many years, first as a Girl Scout and then as an adult. My husband had never camped, let alone in a tent. I took him out in this tent to a National Forest campground in the Shenendoah mountains, and it rained steady for a week. This tent saved the vacation. The middle room served as our dining and rec center, providing ample space for our small camp table where we ate and played cards. The screened porch was a perfect vestibule, and on sunny days it's a great place to relax, nap, read and escape from the bugs. The sleeping room is perfect for two adults and a queen-sized air bed. The middle room will comfortably sleep an entire family, or serve as the "living room", gear room, work room, etc. It has a high ceiling with a loop for hanging a light. The over-cover and Coleman construction make this the driest tent I've ever experienced. After a week of steady rain, not one seep, weep or drip.
