"Sweet. Easy set up. Roomy...but use the rainfly!" 2010-02-01
By Barely There (Central FL USA)
Right now this sucker is out in the rain and full of water. So why the five star rating?

It was easy to set up and is fairly comfortable (though I did get a thermarest pad and highly recommend).

The unit is a little stinky when it arrives (chemical scent). So set it up in advance of camping & let it air out a couple of days.

I sprayed the unit with water protectant..and stuck the sucker outside. Well it has rained..sprinkled. I had pulled the things OUT that make it dome. So the water collected in the roof and the entire inside has a puddle too. I was uh wondering if I needed the rainfly...now I know. he he he.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the package I got HAD the rainfly included. Woo hoo.

If yours doesn't, those in the know suggest a tarp suspended from the trees above the unit is even better than the rainfly. The rainfly makes it toasty but also lots of condensate...and stuffy, they say.

To install rainfly I suggest you unzip the rainfly and put the opposite corners on first...then the corners by the zipper. Then zip. The rainfly fits very snug. Rainfly only opens one side...so pick your side. (Though the entire unit is easy to move and position).

I would buy at least one BIG tarp to set this on..You need to set on side to assemble the legs.

So you need a tarp big enough to lay on it's side and then to stand.

I recommend set up the lounge chair end first making sure it is free of "lounge chair mode". This works BEST if you never try to use it as a lounge chair. Then set up is a breeze.

I'm glad I bought the oversize. I'm only 5'6" but as a side sleeper I live the extra width.

I can store my self sleep bag", etc at one end. Love how all four sides open up. makes it easy to get in thermarest sleeping pad...you can access the hanging storage panels at each end.

Hope I get the sucker dried out...!!!

Amazon did have the best price too.

"TO HEAVY & NOT CARRYABLE!!!!!!!!!!!" 2009-10-01
By Walter F. Adams (MINAS MORGUL)
This is a fast setup tent but VERY HEAVY and hard to carry more than ten feet, so it is impossible to carry on a camping trip. You must have a truck or atv to haul this thing around. Not very practical.

 "Kamp-Rite Oversize Tent" 2009-08-24
By B J Smoker (Wrightsville, PA USA)
I bought this for my husband as a special Father's Day gift. I don't usually spend that kind of money for a Father's Day gift, but every year he goes to a Men/Boys

campout, and they always do something special. This year it was in Canada along the

locks at the Rideau Canal. The group went up the canal by canoes and each day they

canoed maybe 10 miles or so on the average and then they would camp on the shore.

It came in very handy that he didn't have to carry a whole tent and poles and all that stuff. Someone drive a truck and followed them on the road with the food and supplies, so they didn't have a whole lot of room for all these tents, so Bob's tent cot was very handy and easy to use. I read all the reviews before I decided

to buy, and which model to buy. I'm glad I got the oversized one. It gave him extra space. I read reviews that mentioned moisture inside overnight, and so he prepared for that by putting a tarp over the top and then he was able to let the top/sides fully screened. That took care of that problem. Another problem mentioned was comfort, but he took the pad from a camp cot we had bought for our tent, so that provided extra padding and it worked well. I think he really likes it, and the price was terrific compared to other websites, and shipping time was excellent!!!! He was able to try it out before he left for the trip!

 "It's a great product" 2009-06-23
By Kayaker (San Jacinto, CA)
I love this thing. It is easy to set up and take down, as well as comfortable; does need a mat or air mattress. My tent organizer just fits in the end of it with lots of room to spare, and it fits in the trunk of my Toyota Echo. It is heavy, so I bought a luggage cart with a wide platform at the bottom to haul it around on. Sure beats putting up a tent and all that goes with it.
