 "Great Buy" 2010-03-23
By Charles Walters (Malta, IL, US)
Very versatile tent. Good space. Nicely made. Not the lightest for biking or hiking but if two people are going weight can be shared and it becomes quite manageable.

If you want a "name" spend more but this is a very durable tent that will last you a long time. A great buy for the money.

 "Great tent" 2009-09-03
By T. Arnold (USA)
I bought this tent to take on a horse trip we went on. Very easy to put up with 2 people. Very roomy. I slept in it with 2 of my daughters and all of our stuff. There was plenty of room. Loved the vestibule! Great for boots and wet cloths. I put a tarp under the tent because the ground was quite rocky and ruff and the tent floor appears to be made out of the same fabric as the tent. The tarp extended the floor under the vestibule. I liked that as it kept my stuff cleaner. (although how clean is anything really on a trip like that!) The side of the tent works great for drying out wet cloths! Almost as fast as a dryer when the sun is shining on it. Never got water in the tent-but then we lucked out somehow and it did not rain. It did hold up good in the wind. It has a good venting system. I liked being able to go in ether end of the tent. I bought this tent because my father has one and has used it on horse trips for a few years and loves his tent. Very pleased with it and can't wait to take it up aging this weekend. This time I will have all three of the girls and I am not worried at all about space or anything but having a great time!

"So good I bought another." 2009-01-14
By G. L. Taber
I have owned this tent for almost 9 years. When my son graduated high school he started camping with his friends and needed his own tent. The decision on which tent to buy him for Christmas was simple. The Eureka Timberline 4XT is a great tent. It is large enough for my wife and I plus the vestibule is great for gear and those muddy boots. If your looking for a sturdy tent that is easy to set up by yourself, this tent is the one for you.

 "Great durable tent" 2008-04-07
By m3gatr0nx
Had previously used a few low cost store brand name tents from some of the big stores like Target and Walmart. Stepping up to this tent was huge. Very sturdy, lots of room for someone who is very tall (I'm 6'4"). I wouldn't say it's a four person tent..four adults would be cramped. But it works well for two and a little bit of gear.

The vestibule is a great feature, and you can add an optional rear vestibule. This tent will keep you warm on the chilly nights, but has good ventilation for the warmer nights. Great tent!

Super easy to set up, only takes a few minutes. Be sure to pick up a ground mat or tarp to put under the tent to help protect the tent floor.

 "Great Tent" 2010-01-16
By Brian M. Poulin (Wisconsin, USA)
Firstly, I love my tent. I've had my Timberline for about 5-6 years. In those 5-6 years, it's been to the BWCA several times, Quetico Provincial Park, dozens of 7-10 day outings, overnights, pretty much every conceivable type of outing one can go on. I do most of my camping/hiking in Wisconsin and this tent performs wonderfully in the ever-changing WI weather. It also performs perfectly in the more extreme Canadian weather. It holds up well in the wind and nearly perfect in the rain. I've beat the hell out of this tent, and it still is in excellent working order. Durability is not an issue.

If you aren't an experienced outdoorsman, it'll take a little time to figure out how to keep this tent 100% dry. You really have to crank on the rain fly to make it taut and waterproof. Even with the little learning-curve, the tent is 98% percent waterproof. The only infiltration is near the door if your shoes are touching the sides. My rainfly has a very large vestibule too which is large enough for shoes and a pack or two. This tent has great ventilation. You can keep very cool on warm summer nights.

The set up is the easiest on the market. After a few times, it'll take you five minutes to set it up, and after a 10 or 15 times you'll be able to set it up in the dark, no problem. The Timberline can be free-standing if you want to ditch the fly for a night.

It doesn't pack down very well, so it's not ideal for weight and size conscious backpackers.

This tent, due to its ease and reliability, is perfect for novices as well as advanced outdoorsman.

I used these when I was in scouts and my son's troop is still using them. I purchased one for personal use. Great, tough, long lasting tent but to get 4 in you would have to stack them like cord wood. Good size for my wife and I though.

 "Very Nice" 2009-09-14

We have enjoyed our new tent very much, it is very spacious, easy setup/take-down, and looks sharp. After going through a cheaper tent each season, we can definately tell this one will last for years to come.

Very recommended!

 "Great Dollar Value" 2009-08-19
By Jan E. Cutler (Phoenix, AZ)
Eureka has long supplied the market with good useable tents that represent excellent dollar values. Set up is a breeze. It has shockcorded aluminum poles which, I've learned over the years, are far more durable and superior to fiberglass if the tent is to be used often. This tent withstood several hours of pounding rain with no leakage and appears stable enough to withstand strong wind. Its ventilation is excellent. It doesn't come with the necessary tie offs for the fly, so, some small nylon rope or cord is needed. The tent pegs are designed to be light, but, inadequate to truly anchor the tent under windy conditions or in loose soil, so, larger pegs may be needed. Care should be taken with zippers (any tent) and this tent could benefit from some zippers with larger teeth. There is no way that this is a four person tent, even if the four were children. I bought it for a roomy one person tent; with two adults it would be snug and purchase of the optional vestible would be adviseable. It packs up nicely and is a good choice for car/truck camping and is compact enough to be suitable for motorcycle camping.

As with all items I've ordered through Amazon, delivery was punctual and communication excellent.

 "Great tent for Scouting!!" 2009-11-28
By Patrick Garrett (Decatur, IL USA)
I bought this tent this fall and used it three times in September & October. We had rain and cold every time it was used and the tent performed great. At least a couple of the storms were pretty heavy rain. But, over those three weekends, we saw lots of rain. Absolutely no leaks - the inside of the tent stayed dry each time.

The tent is very easy to set up. It could be done by one person if you knew what you were doing (meaning not your first time), but sets up very quickly with two people. Each time we set up, it was up in just a few minutes and we were putting gear inside. And, once it was up, it stayed up - no problems. It definitely stands up by itself just fine, but you'll want stakes to keep it in place.

I'm 6'1" and can stand up in the very center of the tent. Definitely plenty of room for my son (who is 8) and I plus all our gear, and my cot is pretty large.

At this time, I don't have any negatives to report. We've been very pleased with the tent and would highly recommend.

"Very good tent for car camping" 2009-11-09
By J. Lucas (Simpsonville, SC)
I was looking for a good three season tent that would fit my wife and I, our dog, and our stuff. We've used this tent a few times and have had no problems. We've had it in rather strong wind, rain, and in weather down in the 30's.........no problems. Roomy enought for our queen air mattress, a dog pillow, and still has plenty of room room for our bags. Tall enought to stand up in to get dressed (very nice) and some spare room for the tent heater. The corner and roof organizers are a nice touch as well. Makes it easy to keep track of flashlights, wallet, keys, etc. All of the stuff that usually went missing in our other tents.

Setup is pretty easy, two main poles and two rainfly poles......up within 3~5 minutes but requires 2 people. The floor material seems pretty substantial (something I was looking for becasue of the dog) and the seam construction appears good as well. Had a good rain the first night we used it and didn't have any leaks. Only drawback are the tent stakes.....plastic. I haven't even tried to use them. Go and get some metal stakes and save yourself the trouble. Once you do that you're all set.

Overall we're very pleased with this product!

 "Pole broke first time" 2009-11-03
By P. K. Price (San Diego, CA USA)
First of all, the package turned up battered and ripped, which I wasn't happy about. Given that, I thought I'd better test the tent by putting it up in my back yard. It was a good thing that I did because one of the elastic chords that holds the pole together snapped immediately. I can probably fix it using one of my old tent poles, but that's pretty bad for a brand new $200 tent. I've been camping for years and never had one of these things break before. Obviously, I am not a happy camper.

 "Good and dry...mostly" 2009-09-20
By E. Nilsen (Great NW)
I have had this tent for a couple of years and used it on several occasions. It's easy to set up, even for one person. This last labor day was the first time it has seen any sort of rain. It rained heavy a couple of nights. I had a very small puddle the next morning from leaving the low vent open too much...oops. It didn't bother me since I was the only one in the tent and kept my air mattress on the back wall. Several others in our party were getting soaked and had to tarp over their tents. I zipped up the low vent till it was only open about an inch+, problem solved. Good thing becaused it really came down the next night. I stepped out of my tent in the morning and the ground was squishy outside the door but tent was dry inside. I did notice some dampness in the corner, under my air mattress when I was packing it up. I noticed rain had been collecting on the tarp under my tent. Shame on me for not rolling it under far enough. I don't think it would have been damp if not for my mistake.

I don't know about fitting five people in this tent but I have fit two twin air mattress, duffle bags at the feet and still had a small path to stand and walk between them.

I have noticed that the poles are starting to get bent at the peak, where the metal sleeves end on the fiberglass. I know the poles are 11mm and I'm hoping their thickness will help them hold the pressure.

"Very Happy with this Tent" 2009-06-12
By John Krehnovi (Twinsburg, OH United States)
I've used this tent 3 times now and I am very pleased with it. I actually don't have any complaints. It's been easy for me to put up. Maybe just a little more difficult on my own but easy with another person. Everything is sturdy. We experienced heavy rain in the first night within our tent (not really any wind). The tent kept us completely dry. Not one leak. I may have taken this for granted until we drove around the campground and saw just about all the other tent campers drying out their stuff the next day. I have nothing bad to say. The reviews I read were accurate for me. I'd say this is well worth the extra money for a good quality tent.
