Binghamton, NY is the home of Eureka! tents. During the past 100+ years they have been in business, Eureka! was first known as the Eureka Tent & Awning Company. They started with making products out of canvas, i.e. wagon covers, horse blankets, store awnings, American flags and tents for camping. Eureka! tents have been a part of several expeditions. i bought this tent for a week long canoe/backpacking trip in the boundary waters. The tent was awesome. I sealed the seams before the trip and despite heavy rainfall it did not leak. i am very happy with this tent. It is a great value for the money. One suggestion, buy the footprint becaise the botton is thin and it could tear on rocky ground.

Been using this tent for a few months steadily in Glacier National Park. Tent has excellent ventilation and is very roomy. Packs up small and is fairly light. Has held up well in 40-50 mph winds, hail and heavy rain in a thunderstorm with several additional guy lines attached, but also leaked slightly through the seams of the vestibule. Just a warning for buyers, waterproof the fly seams (probably should for any tent.) After a couple coats of sealant, tent was completely waterproof. So far a great lightweight tent!

I am an Assistant Scoutmaster and purchased this tent two years ago for myself and one for my son. We have used our tents for the past two years and have been very pleased with their performance. The first thing I did before our first camping trip was seal all of the seams. Even though the seams are factory tape sealed, I felt better sealing them again. The ventilation is very good, the tent is comfortable (I am 6'2"), and the fly works very well. In several nights of camping in the rain, I have not gotten wet once and the tent held up well in windy weather. The tents are roomy and very easy to set up. This is a very nice tent, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a very good tent at a reasonable price.

My boyfriend and I used this tent for a 1- month bicycling and camping trip. We had previously had the Eureka Backcountry, a very similar tent.



We did not like the way the vestibules were designed. If it is raining hard, and you want to get into the tent, then opening the vestibules will allow rain to get inside the tent through the mesh doors. This is a fine tent is you are only a fair-weather camper, but if you camp in the rain or if you go on long trips where it might rain some day, beware.



Our previous tent was better - the old Eureka Backcountry had zip-up solid panels on the mesh on the door.



We did like the way the Apex has two doors, but we are going to look for a tent with a better design.

I bought this tent for a trip to YellowStone in June 2010. One person could probably put it up alone, but with my husband, it took us less than 15 minutes from beginning to end. Super easy up and down. Great storage bags come with it, you don't have to struggle fitting it back into the bag like most others and it has sturdy handles so you can carry it like a duffle bag.



We never had to test it in the rain, as the weather was great, so I can't attest to that part. It is big and roomy. We put two queen air mattresses in it and slept 4 people very comfortably. I can't see 8 people in it unless they are on the ground lined up like sardines. That wouldn't be for me, but it could be done.



I am giving it 4 stars because, although the two entrances are very convenient and great, I feel that they should be on the front side of the tent, not on the side sides. I say this because we wanted the entrance of the tent to face the fire ring, but if we did that then the other entrance would be facing the complete opposite side. If the two openings were both on the front of the tent then both could face the fire and it would be more easily manueverable to exit the tent. Given where the doors are now, I had to walk completely around the air mattress to get outside to use the restroom during the night, stumbling over things I wouldn't have had to, if the door was facing the front. This is my only complaint, otherwise I love the tent and it is of high quality, well made, beautiful and big. I would buy this tent again and I would recommend it to friends. You can't go wrong with this tent.

We've had this tent for about 4 years now and it has held up extremely well. Very waterproof: we've had a small torrent underneath the tent but the inside stayed dry. Relatively easy to set up (a little tall for my 9 year old to easily get the rain fly on). Lots of hooks and pockets and things to hang stuff on. It's pretty heavy but we use it for Cub Scout camping, which usually allows us to drive to our campsite to drop off equipment. Extremely high quality tent.

We had a Eureka tent for years before switching to a pop up. Now we have decided to get back into dirt camping and researched all the tents out there. The kids are grown, and it will just be me and my husband and our standard poodle. The tent is probably kinda large for just us, but I figured the size would be appreciated after pop up camping. We plan on using this as a basecamp tent for backpacking.

The tent was so easy to set up, it only took us about 15 minutes, and that included reading the instructions. The thought put into the design is outstanding- the way window flaps are covered and sealed to prevent leaking, the built-in hooks, and the fly is wonderful-perfect coverage over windows and doors. Since we camp year round, this will truly be appreciated.

We take it for its first trip this weekend, so I will update my post. But, I expect to just have more good things to say.

 "Just what I was looking for." 2009-10-12

We bought this to replace an older Eureka tent. Our old tent was similar to the Sunrise 10, except it had aluminum poles...and this was one of the few aluminum poled tents I could find.

Our old tent survived gale force winds (we slept in the truck during that event). On another trip the 45mph remnants of a hurricane bent the tent nearly in half for 6 straight hours. I wanted that kind of durability and solid construction in my new tent.

We made our first outing with this tent without setting the tent up in the backyard ahead of time, and it was after dark when we got to our camp site but set-up went very well. There's a little umbrella hub at the peak of the tent and four identical sets of tent poles, so no possibility of mistake. It might *barely* be possible for one person to set up the tent alone (because of the size of the tent), but with 2 people it was a piece of cake. About a 15-20min process from start to finish. The rain fly has one long pole and two short poles that form the brims over the doorways. The short poles are installed after the fly is in place...simple.

The rain fly attaches to the tent corners with nylon straps and buckles, that are then cinched into place. The buckles are like what you'd see on a backpack. I'm not sure about the durability, but they were easy to use. The tent clips to the aluminum poles with nylon straps and plastic clips. A similar system on our previous Eureka tent lasted for years without breaking.

There are plenty of guy points on the tent, two on each side, one on each door and four at the tent corners. Each with reinforced backing and sturdy stitching. I have no doubt that with the guy lines in place, the tent will survive anything short of a gale...and I'm kind of looking forward to putting it to the test! Inside the tent there are also several stitched in nylon loops for hanging lanterns, clothes, etc. The tent comes with a center divider, but it's nylon mesh and I'm honestly not sure why I'd use it. Plenty of window space and hi-lo vents in the doors. And of course the tent is tall enough to stand up in, which is very nice.

As luck would have it, we had a good rain on our first trip to the woods. Not a gully washer, but definitely a good hard rain with steady wind. The tent stayed dry. The rainfly diverted most of the water away from the tent, doors and windows--and the waterproofing did a great job of repelling the rest. On our next trip we got some moderate wind. Between the tent stakes and a couple of guy lines on the windward side, we had no problems. I was actually surprised by how little "sail" there was to such a large tent.

It's too early to be completely sure, but overall I'm completely satisfied.

We ordered from Amazon and received it before the stated ship date! This was a pleasant surprise. We just pitched the tent. I, myself, tried but failed. I needed my husband to help me. He probably could do it himself. It is huge inside and the zippers work great. Lots of windows but wish there was a sky light. Love the space. I plan on setting 4 cots in it with room for our luggage. It is plenty big for what I need. It took about 15 minutes for two to set up..including the rain fly.



I had a Eureka prior to this one and chose this one because of the aluminum poles and "bathtub floor". The kids love the two room divide.



Its an expensive tent but I believe you get what you pay for.



The only draw back is that they are no longer made in the USA.
